It was my first Good Friday and it lived up to it’s name! My family and I took a road trip to visit my Great Grandparents who live near Brighton, now how many of you can say you have Great Grandparents? We had the boring bit to get out of the way first, a two FIVE hour trip in the car, which I have to say was pretty uneventful. This gave me time to catch up on some beauty sleep as I didn’t sleep too well the night before as I was so excited!
Once we arrived, it was my duty to check out the garden for sun spots (not many), grass to dig in (none) and bushes to ‘make mine’ (lots!).
Checking it out…
Doing the rounds…
Checking the perimeters for Badgers…
Nominating a bush…
Before lunch all the adults sat round having a cuppa and a natter whilst I bugged them asked them nicely to throw my toy, however they were too ‘busy’ for that. So instead I chilled out by the pretty flowers, taking in the Easter atmosphere, whilst having a pre-lunch beverage and nibbles.
After we all had lunch, I was a good boy and helped with the clearing up. I supervised loading of the dishwasher…
And pre-washing of the plates – they can’t go in too dirty as it will clog up the dishwasher, so I was willing to help, a dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do…
Hmmm, my first sticky toffee pudding, I could get used to this!
And jelly, very strange texture but I coped.
After I had supervised all the clearing up, Mum announced we were FINALLY going to have a walk on the beach, I had been looking forward to this all day! It was only a short car drive but I was so EXCITED, my first time to the beach! A lot of my friends have told me about the beach, the interesting smells, the strange wet stuff and all the other dogs that walk there.
THE BEACH!
It was very cold but the sun was out and the wind was blowing through my hair ears
Dad and I took a moment to be alone and take in the view
It was then time to move on and have a little stroll and walk off the roast dinner we’d had for lunch
Mum and I decided to have a sit down in a strange sculpture to try and warm up as it was pretty windy and chilly out there, I was obviously fine, being the big boy I am but Mum needed my body heat to warm herself
I then spotted a telescope at a lookout point and decided this was probably the best thing for me to use to do some babe spotting. I also wanted to scan the beach for fellow sausages, we are pretty distinctive from a distance but no, there were no sausages this time.
After a chilly walk along the front I decided to take Mum and the old’s home as they were beginning to go a bit blue (and it’s not good for old people to be out in the cold for too long). I decided to show everyone the collection of shells I had looted from the beach, very pretty.
Mum said if I listened really closely I would still be able to hear the sea, I wasn’t convinced.
There was also this feather I collected – there were some big duck-like birds on the beach, I had never seen them before and when I tried to say hello, they flew off! After a few attempts I did manage to get this feather however it doesn’t taste as good as I thought it would.
ANOTHER cup of tea drunk (Mum did share this time) we decided to go to the local park round the corner whilst the old’s took an afternoon snooze.
We found a weird seat on a wire, I found it slightly odd watching everyone hop on and then zip along this wire, which was quite high up I might add. But I’m quite a daring sausage so had a go myself, I don’t like to be left out.
Just call me Weenie-Knievel. Next it was the swing, big enough for a sausage to fit on – it was quite relaxing, sitting there going back and forth watching the world go by.
After a lap of the park, it was time to go home for tea – scones and crumpet’s were on the menu like the Queen and her Corgi’s, see – I am a posh dog! Then it was finally time to crash, all that sea air and swinging tired me out.
I hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday Friday too!
Dach’s all for now – off to pick the sand out of paws…

Dear Jeffrey, Please could you let me know where you bought your quilted coat from, I am a 6 month old, miniature short haired dachshund who hates the cold and I’m finding it difficult to find a coat to fit that’s not too bulky for my rather small frame, and yours looks rather splendid.
Yours BB Holliday

Hi BB! My padded coat is a 12″ Go Walk one – it comes in a few colours but mine is khaki! Mum got mine from eBay.
