The people over at Applaws sent me an email asking whether Mum & I would like to take part in an online quiz about pet food and how well ‘you know your pet’. I think it’s safe to say I would be very good at answering questions about pet food seeing as eating is one of my favourite pastimes and I would like to think Mum knows me pretty well… however she doesn’t seem to understand that I would like sausages for my breakfast…

Anyway, Mum & I logged on using the link we were emailed to take part in the quiz, it seemed rather user friendly, I’m quite a whizz at computers and technology seeing as I spend a lot of my time blogging so I showed Mum the ropes.

This really was the time for Mum to prove just how well she knows me however Alan wanted a piece of the action too…

Luckily for Mum the results were rather good and she proved to know me 100%, so she should!

They also sent me an infographic to take a look at which was very interesting. It explains the jargon that some pet foods use when advertising their products, such as when a foods says ‘flavoured with’ chicken it doesn’t have to contain any of the named ingredient – who knew? However it then compares that to the fact that Applaws pate is made with fresh natural ingredients and contains up to 70% meat – see, interesting! What a coincidence, the infographic photo has a sausage dog on it!

I have to say, the more research Mum & I have done into pet food and after taking part in the Applaws campaign, the scarier it is to find out that not all pet foods out there are 100% honest on what their food contains. A lot of dogs can be allergic to cereals and wheat and this is what some pet food companies use to ‘pack out’ their food and use as ‘fillers’. Mum always tries to feed Alan and I the best food that she can that we also really love, the smellier the better in my opinion!

Right, on that note I’m off to check my own food, I’m thinking Mum may need to change me over to steak…
