The lovely people over at Pure Pet Food sent me a box of their dog food to taste and review. Obviously being a food connoisseur, I was a very good candidate for this trial.
The package smelt good, even Alan wanted in!
I was 99.9% sure it chicken, if only I could work out a way to get into this box of smelly goodness, the badger digging paws were in full action!
Photo bombing pup…
Once I was in my prediction was confirmed, not just any old chicken but Chicken Delicious!
It turns out this food by Pure is naturally dehydrated dog food, Pure say:
Our pioneering approach makes it easy to provide your dog with the natural goodness and nutrients found in raw and homemade food.
All our natural dog food is made in a human grade food facility, where fresh and raw ingredients are prepared with a gentle method called dehydration. This process naturally preserves our human quality foods, retaining their nutrients without the need for harsh cooking procedures.
I was sent the Chicken Delicious to try but Pure food comes in other flavours, such as Turkey Terrific, Chicken Dinner and Duck Delight.
This food looked pretty unusual to me so Mum & I got to work with measuring the right amount of food out for Alan & I, this was easy enough as the feeding guide on the back of the packet was very clear indeed.
The box contains a pack of dehydrated food, a measuring scoop and also a handy bag clip to keep the food sealed & fresh.
You may ask why choose dehydrated dog food? I read that Dehydration naturally preserves the food, removing the moisture whilst retaining the nutrients and goodness found in the fresh and raw ingredients they use in Pure recipes.
Pure lightly heat their meats just enough to remove any harmful pathogens, their fresh fruit and vegetables are simply washed, prepared and cut to size, whilst they flash cook their potatoes to ensure digestibility, before they slowly dehydrate all of their ingredients.
However Mum did have to help me to cut open the bag, it says all children dogs should be supervised with sharp implements, I think Mum was trying to set an example to Alan, I know I’m a big enough!
Smells good…
I wasn’t sure that was the right amount for me but Mum says she followed the instructions exactly, I’m sure she’s putting me on a secret diet…
Next you have to add the right amount of water (all measurements on the back of the box) to rehydrate the food.
And then mix it all together really well, I did offer to do this myself however Mum said that my badger digging paws weren’t really the right ‘tools’ for this. I told her it would be fine but she wasn’t convinced she’d be able to get the food out from between my toes once I’d dunked them, I told her not to worry, there wouldn’t be any left…
The only flaw with this new plan is that you have to let the food soak for 10-15 to rehydrate it, which is a long time in our world…
We sat VERY patiently until it was finally time to get our chops around this new food…
It was time (after the longest 10 minutes EVER) and Alan & I got to sample Pure food for the first time
We liked it so much that we did what I call the Bowl Lick Tango
Alan even tried to extract the last few morsels from my beard, he obviously didn’t realise I was saving those for later…
We licked our bowls completely clean, which in my book is a big thumbs paws up for this tasty food, even Alan who can sometimes be a bit fussy, loved it! My verdict is that not only was this fuss free and very easy to make, it’s very convenient if you were travelling with your dog or if you are a raw feeder and run out of food, as Pure is low processed natural dog food with all the nutritional benefits of a balanced raw or home cooked diet.
Not only do Pure do complete dog foods but they also do dehydrated treats, chicken & coconut and duck & apple, which sounds like something I’d like to try!
If you would like to try Pure Pet Food then you can do so HERE, at the moment you can use the code ‘TRIAL’ to receive 20% off a 500g box of food
Dach’s all for now – off to mix up my food!

Hi, I give our dogs dehydrated dog food also. They are not allowed to eat chicken because Sunny is allergic to it and starts to scratch and scratch. But they love the other types. Although the bison is not a favorite it makes their tummies sick. But this type of food is great. I think all dogs should eat it every now and them.

Wow! Bison sounds exotic! 🙂
