Sausage v’s Pet Shop

It’s been pretty cold this weekend so we took a little trip out to the pet shop, which is always music to my big floppy ears. I love the pet shop, you get to choose your own treats (I’ve been told choose – not eat), pre-test the toys (again, choose not maul) and look at all the little furry things running around – note to self, these are NOT wind up toys.

Dog In Pet Shop

I did have a small person accompanying me today, Mum’s nephew, and he likes to walk me around (obviously I don’t need to be supervised but it makes him feel important) plus the girls think he’s cute so they come flocking.

Dachshund & Child

The MASSIVE bags of shapes were just far too tempting not to sniff! The bonus of being a hound only 6 inches off the ground is that I am the closest to the floor to sniff out and snaffle the biscuits that have fallen out of the pick n mix boxes – someone has to dispose of them so I am a willing volunteer.

Choosing a new toy can be a tricky business.  You need to test the durability, whether it has limbs for ease of chucking it around and of course the volume and level that the squeaky can annoy Mum and Dad. If the squeak doesn’t annoy them to excess when I’m getting in a playful mood then it’s just not worth having.

Now this is the toy I chose – this is not the toy I got, I actually did not get a toy at all on this trip (bad Mum). The legs were nice and long for me to pull around, it made me feel like a giant as I will never be bigger than an actual turkey and it went ‘gobble gobble’ which I KNOW would annoy Mum immensely – probably why I wasn’t allowed to buy it, even if I did volunteer to use my own paw money.

Now I got a little carried away here, the bones just smelt amazing and the box was just the right height to slide one out…

Dog Sniffing

Too much choice…

But I WAS allowed to choose some fancy treat to share with my buddies Hattie and Harvey so I went for some rather posh duck sausage slices. Now I will say, they were extremely tasty and so posh that we stuck our pinky paws out whilst nibbling delicately on the outside (that’s actually a complete lie – we hoovered them down like we hadn’t eaten for a week!)

Sausage Dog Treats

Of course a dog can never have too many bowls. These are essential to everyday living, one for breakfast, dinner and of course I could have one for lunch (if Mum allowed it, hint hint…). Dog Bowls

Now these were interesting, fish! Nanny’s told me that she has a fish tank for relaxation purposes but I’d never really got it before, they just look like weird shaped things floating around in water. But today whilst gazing into the tank I found my eyes going all heavy and droopy and I felt like having a little afternoon snooze. I actually wanted Mum to carry me around as I was exhausted from all the heavy sniffing of toys, treats and small furries but Mum thought it was cute so I went with it.

Dogs & Fish

Well at least I got my posh treats, all in a weekend’s outing! I hope you all had lovely weekends and are ready for the week ahead?

Dach’s all for now!
