It’s been a very busy weekend with lot’s of celebrations! I’ve had an amazing time but the best way for me to show is in pictures…
On Friday it was my Dad’s 30th birthday (which makes him pretty old) So I put my best party hat on, bought especially for the occasion!
My family and I all clubbed together to get Dad a racing car experience at Silverstone Race Track, I chipped in a WHOLE month’s worth of Bonio money which I think was pretty generous!
It was then lunch on me, I took Dad to the pub (dog friendly) where he had a pint of cider and a huge sandwich and I helped (of course)
Now I wouldn’t want Dad eating anything that wasn’t of the best quality, especially on his special birthday, so I decided I would be Chief Taster, I’m good like that…
In the evening Mum & Dad went out with our family for a nice dinner, I stayed at home with Harvey & Hattie and had boring old dried biscuits for dinner whilst they were dining on steak. I was pretty annoyed by this however I was happy to forgive (not forget though) when Mum & Dad had some news when they got home…
Dad had asked Mum to marry him!!!! How exciting? So I’m going to have to start training up to be a ring bearer and get measured up for a tux.
Saturday came along and it was time for Dad’s 30th BBQ party so time for me to be a dapper dachshund and get my party gear on.
And of course my party hat, I thought I better get Harvey & Hattie one each too…
It was then time to get everything set up, fire pit for when it gets cooler – a dachshund loves to be toasty warm!
Bar all set up and stocked with appropriate drinkies…
Food set up, again this is where my Chief Taster role comes in…
Cake ready…
And of course the guest of honour, my Dad!
It was a good party, I had a few beers ‘glasses of water’ and nibbles and worked my way around all the guests. The ladies loved me and the guys thought I was a cool dude, all guests happy = mission accomplished!
Then it was time for some more celebrating as it was now my Mum’s turn for her birthday on Monday (she’s not as old as Dad though). My Mum is my favourite lady in the world (well, she does feed me!) so I wanted to make sure I gave her lots of cuddles on her birthday.
Pretty flowers for Mum…
I think there was a theme with her birthday cards…
And her presents too…
But I had to make sure that there was nothing tasty left in the gift bags, this is where my dachshund tunnelling instincts come in handy…
Mum got some good gifts, one of which was from Dad who bought her a new camera to take some decent photos of me! I said to Mum that I could also learn to use it, maybe I could be their official wedding photographer?
However the gift unwrapping became a bit boring as they were full of girly things like bubble bath and hand creams so I thought I would be useful and make a start on taking the party decorations down.
Then someone said the word ‘cake’ so I abandoned the clean-up operation and decided to check this ‘cake’ out, it didn’t disappoint. Auntie Shelley had modelled Mum’s cake on Me!
Again I put my Chief Taster hat on and double checked it was safe for my Mum to eat…
It had been a very busy and exciting few days. After all the pub lunches, squealing barking about the engagement, being a party host and cake testing, it was time to chill out with my best pal Harvey and catch up on some well deserved sleep.
Dach’s all for now – congratulations Mum & Dad!
