It’s one of my special friend’s birthday this weekend so I thought it would be quite nice to make them a handmade birthday treat. So I washed my paws, got my dachshund oven gloves at the ready and made some yummy treats!

Every doggy loves a Bonio so I used my bone shaped cutter to make these biscuits. I did need a little help from Mum but it was a combined effort – she rolled out the dough and placed the cutter, I sat on it to give some good pressure to cut it out. Some may say maybe not the most hygienic way but this is baking dachshund style.

Once all the bone shaped biscuits were cut out, it was time to pop them in the oven. For health and safety reasons and mainly so I didn’t singe my eyebrows, Mum put them in to bake for me.

I had a WHOLE 40 minutes to wait for them to bake so I decided to make use of my spare time by playing a bit of ball but mainly napping. Then I was woken up by Mum the oven timer as I was keeping an ear out for it (honestly) ready to remove my biscuits from the oven ready to cool. Now, when they smell so amazing of cheesy goodness, it’s hard for a sausage to wait for them too cool.

See the look of disapproval? Once they had cooled enough for me not to burn my tongue (monitored by Mum) I decided that someone HAD to give them a taste-test and who else likes biscuits and cheese combined? Me!

I have to say I approved, compliments to the chef! So I instructed Mum to fill up my own biscuit tin so I had my own stash (don’t worry, I will share them!)

Once I was satisfied that my biscuit tin was full to the brim, it was time to wrap up my present for my special friend and get ready for their birthday, it was only fitting that I put my party hat on for this (well it does look good on me!).
