Painshill Pooch Parade

So today was the day when every dachshund in the UK (well, 130 or so of us) got together for The Giant Dachshund Walk to raise money for Last Chance Animal Rescue at Painshill Park.

Here is Mum and I going over the bridge to enter the park, I was little worried abut falling though the gaps however Mum told me to ‘man-up’ – so I did.

Wirehaired Dachshund

Once we had paid our entry fee and Mum had purchased loads a few raffle tickets it was time to go and see all the other sausages.

Dachshund Group

See the fellow wire haired hiding at the bottom?! I was SO excited! I have never seen this many dachshunds in one place however I was slightly concerned I would never make it round everyone to say hello and introduce myself. After a little bit of meet and greet, dachshund style of course, with a little bit of bum sniffing and lots of barking, it was time to set off for the walk.

Just follow the sausage dog signs (that actually goes well to the tune of ‘follow the yellow brick road’ – try it)

After the first bridge I was fine, I just wanted to accompany Mum to make sure she didn’t fall in…

Painshill Park is very picturesque, lots of lovely woodland, lakes and streams – perfect for sniffer dogs like us sausages to find lots of disgusting interesting things to smell.

Half way round it was time for a pit stop, Mum was kind enough to carry a pop-up bowl and a bottle of fresh Evian for me, she’s good like that, but that’s what assistant’s are for right?

Before we knew it, we were back at the beginning and ready to mingle with the other sausages.

Here I am meeting the current residents of the Sausage Dog Hotel, I wish I could stay there…

It was at this point I could take the opportunity to catch up with my Lovely Lottie, we had a lovely walk together, shared some gravy bones so it was just time for a cuddle together. Cute couple huh?

Jeffrey & Lottie

Here’s Mum, cheating on with me Lottie. Not sure she wasn’t trying to swap us…

It was soon time for the raffle and with SEVEN tickets we were surely going to win something? And we did! We actually won 3 bags of goodies with various prizes however one had a VERY small coat, so small it would only fit a super cool puppy – introducing my new buddy Horatio! I like to share my gifts and goodies and this dude just looks too cool in it!

Just sussing out what I won…

After a little more mingling, chatting to people and sniffing the other sausages it was time to head home and boy was I ready for a snooze with my favourite raffle prize (and topping up the tan, obviously)

Mum and I would like to say a MASSIVE thanks to Anna Richardson and her sausage helpers Wolfgang and Wilhelm for organising such a fun and exciting day. With the help of Husse Greater London for sponsoring the event, Painshill Park for hosting the walk and all the other helpers, prize givers and those that donated, The Giant Dachshund Walk raised nearly £3000 for Last Chance Animal Rescue – amazing!

Dach’s all for now!
