Today is Rodney’s first birthday, can you believe The Beast is already 1 year old?! Time flies! So Alan, Mum and I went round to Nanny’s to give Rodney the presents we chose and the cake we baked for him, there’s nothing we like better than a pooches birthday party!

He seemed to like the smell of his birthday cake and was desperately trying not to dive right in under Nanny’s instructions, he did have to share it with us and The H’s of course!

But it smelt sooooo good…

It wasn’t long before he tried to take a sneaky sample of it with that big tongue of his…

And Alan tried to join in too, typical pup!

I held back politely , like the sensible adult I am, and let the pups get on with it

After Rodney had ‘tested’ the cake was up to his satisfaction (and it was, thanks to my Lily’s Kitchen cookbook) he wanted to dig into his presents, we kept an eye out just in case we there was something we could ‘help’ him with.

Nanny had gotten Rodders a new alligator toy made of tough material but is it tough enough to stop Rodney from splitting it at the seams? We’ll see…

Alan & I had chosen a big knot rope toy and a rubber chew toy, I think Alan was being slightly selfish when he chose these, seeing as he too plays with the toys at Nannys…

Although I think those pups found the labels and wrapping paper more interesting then the toys themselves…

After opening all his presents, we tucked into Rodney’s birthday cake, hats off to the chef, oh wait, thats me!

It has to be said sniffing cake, unwrapping presents and scoffing cake took it all out of Rodney, well, he is still young after all…
