Christmas Unwrapped

It’s been a very lovely first Christmas for this party sausage! I have had so much fun sniffing the presents, opening the presents and best of all – chewing the presents! We spent Christmas at Nanny & Grandad’s which was brilliant as it meant I got to spend the day with my best pal Harvey. Nanny said he was a bad influence on me because I wanted to sniff ALL the presents under the tree as soon as I got there.

Dachshund Christmas

See – bad influence!

Dachshund Sniffer DogA large wrapping paper mountain appeared as soon as Mum’s nephew started unwrapping his presents (he went first which was slightly unfair as I’m the puppy of the family and it was MY first Christmas). This only meant one thing, tunnelling sausage! But Hattie spent most of the time shredding the paper into thousands of tiny pieces – these were not so good for burrowing.

But I have to say, I think I pulled the look off pretty well! It takes a really handsome dog to be able to wear a glitter bow on his head and quite a few Christmas ribbons around his neck like some kind of portable doggy Christmas wreath!

Mum was unwrapping her presents from Dad when he told me there was one particular present that I may want to get involved with and I know you will agree!

Emily Bond Dachshund Print Bed

A SAUSAGE dog bed! How amazing? I loved it so much that I just couldn’t wait for Mum to unwrap it before I tested it out!

Mutts & Hounds Dachshund BedIt was a present meant for Mum but I think she knows deep down that it’s totally for me as I’m all over it, literally! This can only be used by a sausage dog so I’m afraid I will not be allowing Harvey to sleep on it, it just won’t suit him.

So then it was my turn to open presents and I was so spoilt! I got a Team Dachshund t-shirt so everyone knows my allegiance when I’m walking in the park, a very dapper neckerchief that actually matches my new bed, a toy which I had actually chosen myself in Pets at Home (I think Mum felt obliged to buy it seeing as I ran around the shop with it swinging from my mouth!) and the biggest rawhide bone EVER!

Sausage Dog Presents

It was time for Hattie to open a present but Harvey and I decided it was much more ‘us’ (even if it was pink) as we could wrestle and play tug with it, so we decided to show her how it was done…

After all the presents it was finally time for our turkey Christmas dinner which I had been looking forward to all day. It was turkey mince and vegetables as Nanny thought that would be better for us but I loved it! That is something I could definitely get used to, maybe a once-a-week treat? Hint, hint…

Dog Turkey DinnerBut after all that sniffing, unwrapping presents, wrestling and turkey dinner it was definitely time for a well earned nap and who best to have it with? My Mum!

Dachshund Snoozing

And then after more wrestling, food, playing with our new toys and watching the Eastenders Christmas episode it was time for bed and when better to test out my new futon?
