We’re Advent-urous Sausages

You may remember that last year we created our very own dog friendly advent calendar so that we too could do the countdown to Christmas. If you missed it, you can catch up HERE

So this year we got ourselves organised, put our thinking caps on and came up with another idea! This time you will need the following:

  • A cardboard bone – this can be made from any old scrap cardboard (we used a cardboard box)
  • Christmas wrapping paper – we used dachshund print festive paper, of course!
  • 24 small envelopes/pouches
  • 24 number stickers
  • Ribbon
  • Treats/biscuits
  • Sellotape, double-sided tape and scissors

And one small Elf-like helper!

First of all, wrap your cardboard bone in the wrapping paper, make sure you hold it tight for your Mum or Dad

A strong paw is required here…

Next you need to line up the 24 envelopes ready to stick down

You may need your assistant for this as the tape can be super sticky. Preferably your assistant will have less hair on his paws than you, waxing your toes is not so much fun…

Once you have stuck all of the envelopes onto the bone with double sided tape, it’s time to start sticking on the advent numbers

We got ours on eBay pretty cheaply however you could just draw or write them on too

Dad helped us to stick them on…

We used Alan’s paws to smooth them out, he’s useful for something…

You can stick them in any order you like or even completely randomly to make finding your treat for that day even more exciting!

Next it’s time to fill the envelopes with the delicious treats! Note to self: do not eat these whilst on the job or Mum will be pretty annoyed.

You can always use a thick ribbon to stick on the back of the bone to enable you to hang up your advent calendar and make your house look nice and festive (and smell of dog treats)

And then you’re done! It’s probably a good idea to reward your Elf, you may just need him again in December!

Dach’s all for now – I hope you’re starting to feel festive!

    Hi,
Aren’t you a clever pair! You’ve got a very creative Mum.
I like the look of those gravy bones! My treats are strictly controlled. I’m told that it all goes on my hips! I think I’m technically classed as ‘chunky’. Personally, I think I’m cuddly.
    Have a good week.
    Regards,
    Finn
