Soggy Sausage

So I was having my Sunday afternoon nap and Mum suggested that it would be a ‘great’ idea to go for a walk. I wasn’t that impressed considering that I was doing this –

We set off and little drops of water were falling from the sky, Mum said and I quote – ‘It’ll be fine, it’s only spitting’, 15 minutes later…

I was a soggy sausage to say the least!! And slightly muddy as I thought it would be really funny to dip my paws in a muddy puddle on the way into the park however it wasn’t exactly paw-deep, more like armpit-deep, whoops!

After I got wet drenched, Mum thought it would be kinder to carry her dripping sausage home (note to all dachshunds: if you get caught in the rain, stand still, shiver and put the puppy dog eyes on-a guaranteed lift home!) All the way home Mum kept going on about something called a ‘bath’ and that it would get rid of the ‘eau du wet dog’ smell that I was sporting (I would say more cute puppy smell but whatever!).

Mum explained to me what a bath was and I was a little apprehensive. This was my first time and Dad thought that calling me a ‘bath virgin’ was funny, but I just had to keep thinking about the fluffy warm towel that Mum had promised me comes at the end. I was ready…

What I was NOT ready for was the pink bath mat  – way too girly for me! But I kept calm, the warm water running over my butt was quite relaxing and the soapy stuff smelt quite nice but it didn’t taste as good as it looked (I thought it might have been like Mum’s latte froth!)

And I wasn’t really impressed when Mum said I looked like a ferret and Dad said more like a drowned rat – how rude!!! But after being showered with water coming from a big silver shiny thing, being soaped up in lots of ‘private’ places (can’t decide if I enjoyed that or not?!) and then FINALLY getting dried off with a big fluffy warm towel I have to say I was little relieved it was over.

Mum then said she had a quick-fix solution to get me dry in the form of a fur-dryer. Well, this caught me off guard, warm air being blown very quickly at me but I have to say the end results made me look so FLUFFY! Mum said I scrubbed up quite well…

I know what you’re all thinking, I should enter into modelling? I know! Check out my beard, Mum said she thinks I’m going to be a handsome chappie! (her words-not mine). I’m a bit worried now as I’m sure I’ve seen ‘chappie’ coming out of a tin.

But all this walking in the rain (NOT spitting but RAIN), new bath thing and having my fur fluffed at fast speed made me just want to do what I was meant to be doing this afternoon anyway…

Dach’s all for now!
