Barney’s Biscuit Boxes

When the lovely people over at Barney’s Biscuit Boxes contacted me to ask whether I would like to review one of their biscuit boxes, I have to say, the first thing I heard was ‘biscuit’, my stomach leading the way as usual…

But there’s a lot more to these biscuit boxes then first meets the eye. Not only are they full of yummy, healthy goodies but they are also raising money and awareness of puppy farming and dog rescues.

Barneys Biscuit Boxes

From every biscuit box sold a donation is given to help the fight against puppy farming and also to help dog rescues. Some of the dog rescues that Barney’s Biscuit Boxes help raise money for range from the Dogs Trust & Blue Cross For Pets to Huskies in Need and our very own Dachshund Rescue!

Barney’s Biscuit Boxes mission is:

  • Raise awareness of Puppy farming – By making people aware of this industry and what goes on behind the scenes, we hope they will pass on the message to friends and family. With more information we hope people will do more research than typing ‘puppies for sale’ into Google. Possibly reducing the demand for farmed puppies
  • Promote dog rescues – By promoting dog rescues we hope that people will seriously consider speaking with rescues for advice before sourcing a new dog. Fingers crossed we can help to increase the demand for rescued dogs.
  • Helping dogs less fortunate – Dogs can’t control their situation, like the millions of people starving in Africa who can’t control the droughts or the refugees in war torn countries. If we can donate a bit of money from our Biscuit Boxes to help fund dog rescues and medical expenses of dogs, it makes us sleep a little better at night.
  • Provide dog owners with a source of healthy dog treats – We hope to open the eyes of some customers to the world of healthy dog treats. So owners can treat their dogs and help dogs less fortunate at the same time. There are no subscriptions requirements, so people order when they want. Hopefully it makes it more convenient.

We all know puppy farming is unfortunately taking place, not only here in the UK but abroad too, with puppies being shipped across in buckets and containers in awful conditions and more than likely taken away form their Mum’s far too early. They are sold in pet shops and a high majority of these puppies go on to have not only genetic illnesses from poor breeding but also diseases that they have contracted from their poor breeding environment.

It’s a very sad state of affairs, Alan & I are lucky that our Mum & Dad put in the effort to do their research on reputable breeders when looking for us as pups, visited us to see our birth parents and obtained the right documentation, unfortunately this is not the case for a lot of puppies out there.

So, onto the box itself. We were very impressed with the packaging, a sturdy box that not only looks good but definitely smells amazing too! Barneys Biscuit Boxes

The box is brown and blue with the Barney’s Biscuit Boxes logo and tag line ‘Who wants a biscuit?’ printed across the front, now if that doesn’t get your pooches attention I don’t know what will!

Barneys Biscuit Boxes

The back of the box gives you information on puppy farming and how Barney’s Biscuit Boxes is helping the cause. This is brilliant information to have and you can see exactly where your money for purchasing the box is going. Barneys Biscuit Boxes

Once opened, the box is like a treasure chest full of yummy and healthy goodies, always a good thing if you’re a chunky curvy sausage like me who wants to watch their waistline, getting beach ready for the summer and all that!

Barneys Biscuit Boxes

We were sent a box suitable for small dogs [but in the larger size], there is a box for all breeds ranging from small, medium & large dogs with each size being offered as a small or large box. There are  also boxes for puppies, dogs with sensitive tummies and vegan dogs – so you can’t go wrong!

Barneys Biscuit Boxes

Our box was full of lots of goodies that I know Alan & I will enjoy working our way through, Pooch & Mutt Move Easy Biscuits, Betty Miller Fussy Dog Biscuits (perfect for Alan!), Billy & Margot Honey & Banana Biscuits and lots more! All the treats included in the Barney’s Biscuit Boxes are made from human grade ingredients with no additives, preservatives, derivatives, salt or sugar, they are just about as healthy as you can get!

The price of the boxes vary, the starter box for small dogs is £9.95 and the large box for small dogs (which is what we have) is £15.00. I think these boxes would be perfect to send to a doggy friend as a fantastic treat or indulgent birthday present or ideal if you just need to restock your own dogs treat supply, which is always required in my opinion.

Postage is roughly the same as any other package you would order (and we would know from the amount of stuff Mum orders!!) ranging from £2.85 to £4.95. Not only will you or a poochy friend benefit from some healthy, delicious treats but you will also be helping a good cause – doing your good deed for the day!
