As Easy As ABC

Apologies for not posting the last fews days but Mum buggered off on a family weekend that did NOT consist of taking me – how rude!! So I stayed with my pals Hattie and Harvey whilst Mum’s best friend Auntie Lois looked after me, which was fun as she gives me lots of treats and cuddles.

So I decided that whilst Mum was away I would try and learn something new to show her when she got back. I can do a few tricks stunts now that Mum taught me (I promise I will get round to showing you one day) so I thought I should learn something a bit different and intelligent to show her that I have brains as well as good looks. I had been surfing the internet and found this video of a fellow dachshund that can count, how cool is that?

He’s good isn’t he? So taking inspiration from him, I decided to have a rummage through Nanny’s house and stumbled across some building blocks with letters and numbers on. I realised that these could work to my advantage (even if they are baby toys) as I can actually read and spell which is pretty good for a dog! (and I’m still a pup!) It took me a while to work out which blocks I needed so I spread them all out around me and decided it was a process of elimination. The best technique was to roll them around with my long dachshund nose and then push them into place with my digging spade-paws.

I got there in the end and managed to spell out my name, there wasn’t enough letters so I had to spell out the pet name that Mum calls me…

That’s me – Jefy! I would like to point out that Mum actually normally says Jeffy but there was only one ‘f’ so I just had to make do! I thought I had seen another one whilst I had been sorting through the blocks but Harvey was in the way helping and I did see him having a chew on one…

Let me know if any of you have a clever sausage that can do tricks!

Dach’s all for now!
