After many requests to see Mum & Dad’s wedding photos, I thought I would do it in parts as there is just so much to share with you. This first post is the build-up to the wedding, how I helped Mum get things organised, make things and generally be a helpful hound. Don’t get me wrong, this is just a teeny tiny part of the wedding prep, Mum & Dad went for a DIY wedding where they hired a barn with NOTHING IN IT and did everything themselves, a massive task but I think it’s safe to say the whole family, with a little help from me, pulled it off rather well!
We started off last year by purchasing a sausage dog craft punch from my friends over at Devoted to Dachshunds to paw-make our very own sausage dog table confetti in the three wedding colours – purple, pink and green. Mum & I spent many an evening through the long cold winter punching away…
I also helped with making some of the bunting, my Auntie Yvonne made hundreds of meters of bunting which really looked the part! If you remember I did a whole blog post on this – Sausage All Sewn Up
After the initial planning and brain-storming it was soon time to help Dad design the invites, I supervised…
And it seems I may have played a big part in the design process as it seems my long wirey body was to become the logo of the whole wedding, Mum said she couldn’t have a wedding without me being involved in some way!
Speaking of my long body, Dad also arranged for a stamp to be made in my honour, well kinda, it was to stamp the invite envelopes, place name labels, sweetie bags, just about anything that could be stamped with a purple sausage dog!
I was also part of the Wedding Transport Committee and went for a test drive in Nanny’s VW Beetle Betty to see if she could do the job of transporting my Mum, the bride, to the venue. Betty was perfect!
As the wedding got closer it was time to start making some of the decorations, these 3d hanging hearts were some of the many DIY decorations…
Mum also picked out some nice presents for Nanny, Auntie Shelley & Yvonne who helped out MASSIVELY to give Mum & Dad the day they had envisaged, I helped to wrap them, naturally.
And there was one last special make to help out with, personalised flower pots for the Mum’s and Yvonne, a special thank you present for them. These were made using our wedding font and of course, the Jeffrey Logo!
Finally, I helped Mum & Dad design their wedding bands with the very talented Laura Bezant, Milo’s Mum, I think I model them well and a couple of other beautiful shiny pieces Laura made for the wedding…
So there you have it, some of the wedding preparations that I helped with, keep your eyes peeled for part 2!
Dach’s all for now!
