Tails Dog Food Review

When I was contacted to see if I would like to do a months trial of food from Tails.com I thought it should be Alan’s turn. I’m a nice brother and I do like love food however this would be the ultimate test for any dog food as my little chocolate brother can err on the ‘fussy’ side when it comes to eating!

This is what Tails.com has to say about it’s food:

With different personalities, different lifestyles and different nutritional requirements, no two dogs are the same. In fact, they are the most diverse species on the planet and as such their optimal nutritional requirements vary widely. So when it comes to their diet, ‘one-size-fits-all’ doesn’t work. That’s why we create tailor-made food that is optimised for each individual dog so you can provide your dog their ideal nutrition based on their requirements and preferences: breed (including cross-breeds), lifestage, physical condition, energy level, flavour and ingredient preferences, health issues and dietary exclusions. We even gradually adapt the blend over time as your dog ages and his nutritional requirements change naturally.

If you haven’t noticed already, Alan & I are very different and I’m not just talking about our hair styles! We may be the same breed  but Alan is much smaller than I am, is far more active (I’m more for just chilling out) and he’s a fussy eater, whereas I eat ‘anything’ so according to Mum a tailor-made food sounded perfect for Alan.

The website is very easy to use, you simply go through a few stages, enter your dogs information like breed, age, weight, physical activity plus you can specify if your dog has any medical conditions or allergies – you can even input a particular food that your hound does or does not like, for example Alan really enjoys a fish supper.

Once you have entered all the information, it gives you a break down of what the food will contain and why it’s tailored to their needs. Then all you need to do is sit back and wait for the food to be delivered to your door – it’s really that easy!

It didn’t take long at all for Alan’s food to arrived and I have to say, we love the packaging! The bag comes in a sturdy Tails.com cardboard box, the food is contained in a resealable bag with Alan’s name on – how cute! We love the personalisation, if you were feeding Tails.com food to more than one dog then it would be easy to keep them separate and not mix them up.

The food came with a leaflet explaining what is in Alan’s food and how much to give him. A flat-packed measuring cup was included, which also had Alan’s name on, the booklet also explains the settings to fold the scoop too – so easy!

I thought it best I should read up and see what measurements Alan should use as I had decided it was only fair that he should actually taste the food, I may have had a nibble first, you know, just to check…

There were 3 different types of biscuits in Alan’s food and the leaflet clearly explains what each is for.

The sniff test was given by Alan and given a paws up, he said it smelt good… good enough to eat in fact!
