Yesterday we had a family outing to Henley Show where all dogs were welcome, thankfully!
There were lots of crafts to look at…
I particularly liked the metal sculpted pigs however Mum said they were a tad large for our garden…
We bumped into Nanny’s friend who owns this horse of a dog, Willow the Wolfhound!
Look how small Alan looks!
She’s a rather large lady, my Mum said she is much easier to pet than we are as she doesn’t have to bend down, lazy woman…
We decided to sit and watch the falconry exhibition for a while, Rodney was racing for the best seat!
However I decided to keep an eye on those birdies in their holding area, you never know when they might fancy a small ferret or chocolate coloured sausage dog for dinner, watch out Alan!
They had a fair ground which included classics like the helter skelter and a carousel, I fancied a ride down the helter skelter however Nanny reminded me that my long and low body wasn’t really made to go around corners.
After we’d watched the birds ducking and diving and restrained Rodney from chasing them, it was off to my favourite tent, the food hall! So many lovely things to lick sniff…
I’m not going to lie to you, I did try and take a sneaky nibble without Nanny realising…
The cakes and pastries were to die for! I would have bought Mum one if she wasn’t on a diet however that was just a cover, I really wanted one to go with my afternoon tea!
After Mum escorted me from the food tent quick-sharp, well, what’s a sausage to do but take a quick bite of something that looks AND smells so tasty? we headed over to something that smelled very different but equally as interesting, the ferret racing!
Grandad volunteered Alan to go down the pipe and race for us but he wasn’t having any of it! I however was well up for chasing those furry rodents!
After the ferrets had finished racing, we were pretty parched from all the whining and salivating because we wanted to chase them, we are hounds after all! So Auntie Shelley treated us to ice cream..
Come on Grandad!
The boys and I were treated to our very own cone to share, how lucky!
Alan and I got to go first as Auntie Shelley was slightly worried Rodney might snaffle it all in one go with his long tongue!
Look at that huge mouth!
I think Rodney might need a tissue…
One satisfied (and clean) sausage…
After all the ferrets, food tent and ice cream excitement, we needed to rest our stumpy little legs and what was more country-show than on a straw bale?
After our pit-stop, we took a stroll over to the sheep sheering display and there were some strange looking sheep on the back of a lorry, they looked mighty tasty to me, mmmmmm, lamb chops…
But after a little while, I decided that this was the prime opportunity to rest my eyes whilst Nanny gave me a cuddle, the sun was warm on my back and I just dozed off…
Alan took the time to channel his inner sheep and graze on the grass….
And Rodney passed out from all the excitement…
As the sheep sheering display came to a close and the sheep looked decidedly naked, rather them than me! mum told us to shake a leg as we were going to look at some big boys toys, tractors!
What I wouldn’t give to have a go driving one of them, I reckon it would be a real babe magnet, all I need is the wax jacket and flat cap, very country gent!
Then Nanny took us to look at the classic cars as we all know how much she likes an old motor and I’m not talking about Grandad…
Mum said she wanted to go and look at some cows, all I heard was beef…
Just look at the rib eye on that!
And the burgers on them, yummy!
After watching the walking burgers it was time to head back to the car to go home, we’d had such a fun day out but it was safe to say, we were pooped!
Dach’s all for now – off to fire up the BBQ…
