Butternut Box

When the team at Butternut Box contacted us to ask if we would like to trial one of their food subscription boxes, we knew this was right up our street! Their tag line alone sold it to us ‘The Best Thing Since Belly Rubs’, if it’s better than belly rubs we wanted a piece of the action!

A bit about Butternut Box:

Developed alongside nutritionists and approved by vets.
All our meals are taste tested by the team to ensure they’re dog damn delicious.
Made by hand in the UK with ingredients that are fresher than winter walks.
No grains. No mystery meats. No preservatives.
Perfect for fussy eaters or those who suffer from upset stomach

So it’s basically a subscription meal box to take the hassle out of dinner time, a bit like what you humans get delivered straight to your doors! All cooked specifically for your dog, frozen and delivered to your home. All you have to do is pop it in the freezer, defrost as needed & serve to your pooch!

We went onto their website to ‘build our box’ and completed an online survey about myself & Alan. Just a few short (and I must say fun) questions later, such as our name, ages, appetite, current feeding habits & weight, we were sent an email confirming that our box was on its way!

Their packaging was indeed correct, when food was involved, I was a very excited sausage!

On opening the box we were greeted with some very clear leaflets providing us with information about Butternut Box themselves, how to store our new food & instructions on how to consume it – the serving not the eating, I don’t need any help with that!

I was also sent this rather smart bandana & a fun guide on the different ways to wear it, I went with Superpup of course!

Inside was an insulated sleeve which housed the frozen food packets, all labelled very clearly so our Mum knew exactly what she was feeding us. This sleeve made sure that the food would stay frozen if we weren’t at home to take delivery of the box. The packaging is all recyclable from the cardboard box to the insulated sleeve – so good for the environment as well!

Butternut Box

As the change from a diet of regular dog food to an all natural one can take a bit of getting used to, they recommend slowly increasing the amount of Butternut Box food we would be eating by combining it with our current food over a 6 day period.

These were labeled clearly days 1-6, each packet combined for Alan & I so all Mum had to do was decrease our own food each day as the Butternut Box ratio of food increased.

We were also sent full meals to trial afterwards, flavours featured were beef, turkey, lamb & chicken.

We were very keen to get going and it smelt amazing when Mum dished it up!

So excited that Alan’s tail just would not stop, and this says something as he is our fussy eater!!

We have finished our introduction & are now working our way through the rest of our Butternut Box and I have to say, we are very impressed! The food is delicious, tailored to us & delivered straight to our door – easy peasy!

Small dog costing starts from £1.60 per day, medium dogs £2.66 per day and large dogs £3.92 per day. Whats even better is that for every new subscription, Butternut Box donate a much needed meal to a less fortunate dog who is homeless or living in a shelter.

Dach’s all for now – off to defrost my beef meal…
